A meme from my MIL

January 29th, 2009

I have so little news these days – just trying to ride out the headaches. I did make my appointment for the headache clinic in Chicago – for March 5th. I’m going all in one day again. It seems like traveling is really hard on my migraines (not surprising), and so getting it all over with in one day is better than having two miserable days in a row.   :)

I’m in emails with my doctor (@ the headache clinic) to find out whether we’ll stay at this higher level of Tegretol and Baclofen. I had some blood tests recently – so we shall see!

It is also worth mentioning that the phlebotomist who took my blood got it in ONE STICK. This is like a miracle. It was pleasant. Onto the meme!

Four, Four, Four, Four…

A) Four places that I go to over and over

Smith’s (grocery store), church, the library, and Sam’s Club (my pharmacy!)

B) Four people that email me regularly:

Spencer, Muum, my MIL, my sister

C) Four of my favorite places to eat:

anywhere with friends, Bombay House, Pei Wei, somewhere I haven’t tried before

D) Four places I would rather be right now

Hawaii, Boston, Italy, California

E) Four people I think will respond:

Hmm, this is a tough one. I’ll leave this be.

F) Four TV shows I watch:

The Office, What Not to Wear, The Muppet Show… and movies

life carries on

January 16th, 2009

Whether I want to carry on or not, life continues on. ‘Stop the world, I want to get off!’

Things are actually going ok, for all that melodrama. We had a GREAT visit with the family out in PA. It was great to get away and get to be a part of their lives for a bit. It went much quicker than I thought it would.

And I find myself home, continuing with the calls to doctor’s offices, more errands than I feel I can run. You know. Life! I finally have an appointment to see the headache specialist out here. (Not) Surprisingly, she is scheduled out till May. This is why I went to Chicago in the first place. A return patient appointment was 6 months out. Ridiculous. But I’m hoping to finagle a hospitalization in Utah instead of Chicago. Well, Illinois. You know.

The new dosages seemed to be helping for a week or two, and now not so much. Actually, I feel worse than before. It’s only been 3 days or so, but as usual, this Headache keeps me guessing! Is it a weather thing? A…I have no idea. The medicine couldn’t make things worse, could it? Maybe that’s it. Maybe my Headache has, of its own volition, just gotten worse. Wouldn’t that be a funny happening.

Thankfully, I’ve got a get-together with my family this weekend to look forward to. There’s nothing I like better than getting together with family.
And now I have a question for you — what’s your go-to meal for company? I need to know.  :)

WOW!

January 2nd, 2009

This is may-juh! I hope people will continue to read the post below, I am loving the comments on favorite books.

BUT I couldn’t not post about this. I was unpacking my pharmacy stuff and reading the little forms. I noticed that the packaging for my Imitrex had changed, and it is now GENERIC! Fantastic, right? Right — especially because it carried over to the price. With my insurance, I paid only $2.25 for 9 pills. WOW.

There were days a few years ago (we had no pharmacy insurance at the time) when we’d seriously pay more than $20 PER PILL for triptans, including Imitrex. So we went from paying more than $20 per pill to $0.25. Literally.

This makes me happy largely because there are SO MANY other fantastic things I’d rather buy than pills. Just for starters, food. Or paying our rent.  :)
